Hooked on Dinosaurs - T-Rex -

If you’re a dinosaur fan like me and ever wondered whether you can cuddle a dinosaur, this is your sign.

I made this little guy for a family member, he wasn’t easy to make but i love how he turned out!

Materials needed:
4,5mm crochet hook
15 g of Dark Brown Yarn for 4.5mm hook
80g of Brick Yarn for 4.5mm hook
5g of Cream Yarn for a 4.5mm hook

15mm black safety eyes

and the standard, sewing needle, row markers, scissors.

I bought the pattern for this Rexy on Etsy

You can find it under the shop name @TheYarnForest.
I will post a link below so you can see for yourself.

Fun T-Rex fact:
The name Tyrannosaurus rex comes from Greek and Latin words meaning ‘Tyrant Lizard King’.

I started this crochet with making the claws and honestly, it was very frustrating. At one point, i even questioned if I was going crazy. Once i got past those, i turned them into some cute leggies.
I connected both legs with a few rows and started working on the body, which, to be honest, wasn’t super pleasant either. I redid it about 4 times because i couldn’t quite figure out the color changes. Thankfully, after a few tries, i finally got it right.
I really enjoyed making the head and eye (sockets), these were fun, and i like seeing progress. After that, I made the arms and connected them throught a few more rounds. Then I sewed on the head, using pin needles first to secure its position. Once it wat attached, I added the spikes along the back of the body and head.

This was NOT an easy pattern or project. This wasn’t because of problems with the pattern, it was because of the type of yarn i used. I bought special himalaya dolphin baby yarn. Making the magic ring with this yarn was no easy task. I broke the yarn more times then i would like to admit.

This was my first real time at color changing, and i’ll be honest, i had to redo it a couple of times until i liked the result.

The pattern also came with a bone for the T-Rex. I actually made it for my own little T-Rex at home so she’d have something fun to play with!

This was also the first project i had to make special eye sockets for and sew them on!
